Oral contraceptive pill
A daily pill to protect from unplanned pregnancies.

Pills are a very effective form of contraception (if used properly) They thicken the barrier to the woman’s womb, making it hard for the man’s sperm to get through.
They may also prevent a woman’s egg from being released. There are two types of pills available, Combined pill & Mini pill.
Each have different kinds of hormone suiting different people If one doesn’t suit you, you can always talk to your provider about a different option Pills are great for women who have a regular routine and can remember to take something at the same time every day.
And for women who want a child very soon as they are easy to start and stop.
When you stop taking the pill, you can get pregnant within a few months It’s that easy!
So, if you want a longer break before having a child then a simpler method like the implant or IUD may be better because you don’t have to remember to do anything. The pill can also protect you from some forms of cancer, reduce menstrual pain, and help you regulate your monthly bleeding. And in some cases, improve your skin if you suffer from acne.
The mini pill is safe to use when you are breastfeeding, remember though, to stay protected, you need to take the pill at the same time every day and start in the first 5 days of your monthly cycle If you forget to take even one pill during the month, or start late, you may not be protected. Some medicines can stop the pill from working, so talk to a health provider before using pills for the first time. It’s important to know the pill does not protect you against HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases. So, use a condom at the same time for extra protection!
Pills may cause some side effects, like headaches, tender breasts, or changes to your monthly bleeding patterns, but don’t worry, this will improve after a few months. For some women, the pill can cause some weight gain. Now for the rumours. Some people say if you take the pill, it makes you infertile – it doesn’t the pill simply protects you while you’re taking it, and when you stop, your ability to have a baby return. So, think carefully about when you stop!
